A serial killer who creates βdollsβ from the limbs of their victims?
Sounds delightfully disquieting.

While I very much enjoyed the premise of a serial killer who creates "dolls" from the severed limbs of their victims, I honestly felt like this took a backseat to the main character Dawn's struggles with her role as a woman in a very patriarchal environment.
It pains me to admit that at about 60% in, I skipped ahead to the last 3 chapters and felt like I missed next to nothing of importance.
I'm honestly not sure that I'm satisfied with whom the killer turned out to be but I will leave out who I wished it had been to avoid spoiling the book for other readers.
I would like to thank NetGalley and Morgan Shamy for sharing the audiobook with me. While this book did miss the mark for me, I am absolutely going to read more of Shamy's work. The Stricken is definitely one of my most anticipated books to read so I look forward to reading it in the near future!
